Outer Experience is an experimental project which asks: what is experience without knowledge? As our environment is interpreted by the mind through our individual frameworks of knowledge about the world, it is difficult (and perhaps impossible) to separate knowledge from experience. In an attempt to distance formal knowledge from experience, the multimedia pieces are presented with little to no language, no text, and without an introduction to the content. Without these more formal descriptions, which may skew the way in which an input is understood (like the cover of a book, for example), how will the media and content relate to the viewer?
